Aloha! My name is Liat Miller. I am grateful to call Maui my home and I am committed to the health and safety of our community. I received my undergraduate degree in Biotechnology then continued my education at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa, earning my second undergraduate degree in Nursing as well as my Masters in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner. In my spare time, I enjoy surfing, yoga, canoe paddling and hanging out with my two dogs. I am passionate about whole-plant-based diet as I strongly believe in its power to improve and prevent chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes, heart diseases and more. While working at the Pukalani Family Practice with our great Ohana, I aspire to empower individuals and families to improve their lives with high quality healthcare.

Liat Miller proudly completed a
Plant-Based Nutrition Certificate Program
in March 2023 from the
eCornell and T Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies

It has been a privilege providing services to the community in Maui as a Nurse Practitioner since 2004. I am originally from Northern California and moved to Maui in 2001. I worked as an RN at Kaiser Permanente and Planned Parenthood of Hawaii then continued my education receiving my Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) certification via Planned Parenthood of MN/SD in Minnesota (in collaboration with the University of Minnesota) in 2004. After working as a WHNP specializing in gynecological care until 2014, I returned to school obtaining my Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) certification, and Master of Science in Nursing Degree from St. Joseph’s College of Maine. When I’m not working I enjoy surfing, hiking, and spending time with my husband Kevin, and two dogs Kaila and Lani.

I’m originally from Washington State, where I earned my Registered Nurse (RN) license in 2007, and moved to Maui in 2013. I completed my Masters of Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Saint Joseph’s College of Maine in 2016 and went on to found and operate my own primary care practice, focusing on HIV care and chronic disease management. In 2020, I sold my practice and spent nearly two years supporting the COVID-19 Task Force at the Department of Health in Washington, DC. I returned to Maui in 2023 and have since worked in a variety of clinical settings, including urgent care and primary care. I am passionate about using nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle changes to prevent and manage disease whenever possible and care deeply about issues that affect marginalized populations and social justice. Outside of work, I enjoy reading, watching movies, scuba diving and other water sports, camping, hiking, and spending time with my family and my four dogs. I’m excited to begin this next chapter and to build lasting connections with the community here.
